Denison, Texas -- We're excited to start a new program at the Eisenhower Birthplace in Denison for people interested in fiber arts.

Humans have been making textiles for thousands of years. Clothing, fabrics, blankets, and more are often practical as well as decorative and expressive. Because of their use as functional objects, textiles have long been seen as a "craft" rather than a type of fine art, but things are changing.

The activity also developed a social component. Sewing circles, knitting clubs, and crochet clubs became social circles for individuals involved in these arts. We're building our own fiber arts community much like Ida Eisenhower would have had when she lived in the neighborhood.

Bring your projects and materials and spend time with other artisans who share a passion for these crafts. We will also have different historic crochet patterns you can try.

Saturday, November 18 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. Open to all ages.
