Paris, Texas -- The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) Paris District is proposing to improve US Highway 82 (US 82) from the Fannin County Line to Loop 286 West of Paris, Texas in Lamar County, Texas. This notice advises the public that TxDOT will be conducting an online virtual public meeting on the proposed project. The virtual meeting will be held on Aug. 25, 2020 beginning at 6:00 p.m.

To view the pre-recorded virtual public meeting video presentation visit www.txdot.gov and search for “US 82 Lamar County.”

The presentation will include both audio and visual components. If you do not have internet access, you may call Duane Good at (903) 737-9282 to ask questions about the project and access project materials at any time during the project development process. Formal comments may be provided by mail or email as explained below.

The existing US 82 roadway is a two-lane undivided highway with passing lanes and a two-way left turn lane approaching the City of Paris. The proposed improvements include the widening of US 82 from a two-lane highway to a four-lane divided highway for a distance of approximately 16 miles.

The proposed roadway includes two 12-foot-wide travel lanes in each direction, a 10-foot-wide outside shoulder, and a 68-foot-wide depressed median or a 16-foot-wide two-way left turn lane.

Within the City of Paris limits, a 5-foot-wide sidewalk would be provided at the edge of the right of way on both sides.

The proposed project would, subject to final design considerations, require additional right of way and potential displacements of residential and commercial structures. Relocation assistance is available for displaced persons and businesses. Information about the TxDOT Relocation Assistance Program and services and benefits for displaced and other affected property owners, as well as information about the tentative schedule for right-of-way acquisition and construction, can be obtained from the TxDOT district office by calling (903) 737-9300.

Any environmental documentation or studies, maps and drawings showing the project location and design, tentative construction schedules, and other information regarding the proposed project are available online at www.txdot.gov Search: “US 82 Lamar County”.

TxDOT makes every reasonable effort to accommodate the needs of the public. The virtual public meeting will be presented in English. If you have a special communication accommodation or need for an interpreter, a request can be made.
