Grayson County confirms 41 additional positive cases of COVID-19

Grayson County, Texas -- The Grayson County Health Department (GCHD) has confirmed forty-one additional positive cases of COVID-19 within Grayson County. The patients are in their teens, 20ís, 30ís, 40ís, 50ís, 60ís, 70ís, 80ís, and 90ís.

Forty of the confirmed cases are currently isolated at their place of residence and one is hospitalized. One of the newly confirmed cases are from Bells, seven are from Denison, one is from Howe, one is from Pottsboro, twenty-nine are from Sherman, one is from Tioga, and one is from Whitewright.

Thirty-seven of the newly confirmed cases had close contact with another confirmed case. Four has no recent travel outside of Grayson County and no known contact with another confirmed case.

This brings our total active case count to 91, of which thirteen are hospitalized and 78 are isolated at their place of residence. The GCHD Public Health Emergency Preparedness team is identifying and contacting individuals who may have had exposure to a confirmed case.

The Grayson County Health Department will continue, in partnership with our community providers, to monitor and investigate COVID-19 within Grayson County. Grayson County will continue, and will encourage individuals, to follow preventative measures as recommended by President Trump, Governor Abbott, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and the Texas Department of State Health Services.

If you have recently traveled to an area with ongoing spread of COVID-19 or have had contact with someone who has COVID-19 and have developed a fever, dry cough, and shortness of breath, within 14 days of your travel; call your healthcare provider. To prevent potential spread, please alert your provider before arriving to the providerís office or emergency department.

It is important to wear face coverings, practice social distancing and follow the Grayson County Health Departmentís Isolation/Quarantine Orders. For facilities testing patients, when a positive result is received, they must promptly notify the Grayson County Health Department to ensure proper measures can be taken to limit the spread of the disease.
