McKinney, Texas -- How will the 2020-21 school year look? The McKinney ISD and surrounding school districts recently announced that they will be starting the upcoming school year virtually. But what about after that? How will extracurricular activities look? And then there's higher education. What will that look like?
In short, what’s the state of education in North Texas?
These are questions that thousands of parents around North Texas are asking. With that in mind, the McKinney Chamber of Commerce is hosting a panel of North Texas educators and leaders to help answer those questions. The panel includes:
- Rick McDaniel, Superintendent of the McKinney ISD
- Mark Smith, Vice President/Provost of Collin College
- Missy Bender, Regional Advocacy Director of Raise Your Hand Texas
The Chamber will host the panel – virtually – during their July Quarterly Luncheon on July 28.
“The way our children are being educated is clearly in flux right now. Whether it’s in person, virtually, or some hybrid – parents, students, and teachers alike have questions,” says Lisa Hermes, the President and CEO of the McKinney Chamber of Commerce. “We’re hoping we can provide some insight and maybe even some clarity to those who have questions during this discussion.”
