Open Arms Homeless Shelter to begin accepting residents June 8

June 8, 2020 - opening day

Fannin County, Texas -- Open Arms Homeless Shelter is excited to announce that residents will be accepted starting June 8, 2020. Those in need of shelter must call 903-505-3369 to set up an appointment for admission paper work to be completed. Admission intake will take place at the shelter from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday beginning on Monday, June 8.
 
Open Arms is an overnight shelter that will house homeless from 6 p.m. in the evening until 9 a.m. in the morning seven days a week. Intake of new residents will be from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday through Friday.  The shelter will provide a hot evening meal, a continental style breakfast, and a sack lunch.  Showers and laundry facilities will be available for residents.
 
Open Arms Homeless Shelter is so excited that the day is finally here for the shelter and Fannin County to be able to fulfill Matthew 25:35: “For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me.”

The Board of Directors thanks all the individuals, families, churches, and organizations who have helped Open Arms get ready to open.  Volunteers are still needed.  Volunteer applications can be found at www.oashelter.com or call and visit with the director about volunteer opportunities – Jennifer Burgess at 903-505-3369.
