Fannin County, Texas -- With the western and southern parts of Fannin County experiencing dry and windy conditions, Fannin County Commissioners Court approved a countywide ban on outdoor burning.

The burn ban was implemented Tuesday, October 1, 2019 during a regular meeting of commissioners court. While the southern and eastern portions of Fannin County received rain to mitigate the danger of fast-moving grassfires, the U.S. Drought Monitor map shows much of the county is suffering severe drought conditions.

With no regular meeting of Fannin County Commissioners Court next week, this burn ban will remain in effect for at least two weeks and commissioners will revisit this issue October 15.

County residents are urged to inform friends and neighbors that an outdoor burn ban is in effect for at least two weeks.
