Fannin County, Texas -- Moncrief Cancer Institute is a nonprofit community-based early detection and support center in Fort Worth. We are part of UT Southwestern’s Simmons Comprehensive Cancer Center, which is the only National Cancer Institute-designated center in North Texas. Moncrief offers an exceptional level of academic medical expertise, which includes screening programs that help detect cancer at its earlier stages.

Moncrief will bring its Mobile Cancer Clinic to the Fannin County Resource Expo to provide mammograms and Pap tests on Thursday, April 25 from noon to 5:00 p.m. at the Fannin County Multipurpose Complex in Bonham. (Please note that these screenings begin before the Expo start time of 3:00 p.m.) The breast cancer screening is for women ages 40 and older who haven’t had a mammogram in one year or more. The cervical cancer screening is for women ages 21 to 64. Moncrief provides funding for free mammograms and Pap tests for women without insurance and those who qualify.

The Mobile Cancer Clinic is an innovative, ADA-accessible 18-wheeler that is equipped with private exam rooms and the latest cancer-fighting tools. For our mammograms, we offer 3-D mammography, which is considered the most advanced breast screening and diagnostic technology.

“Data from the American Cancer Society tells us that more than 1.7 million new cases of cancer will be diagnosed in the United States in 2019, and an estimated 606,880 people will die of the disease,” says Dr. Keith Argenbright, director, Moncrief Cancer Institute. “However, today we have more tools and knowledge than ever to prevent and detect cancer. By maintaining a healthy lifestyle, you can decrease your odds of cancer ever occurring. And by getting screened for certain types of cancer, you can detect it early, when treatment is more likely to be successful.”

To qualify for and schedule your appointment for a free mammogram and Pap test, please call 800-405-7739 by Thursday, April 18. You may also visit our website at moncrief.com to learn more.

Funding for screenings is provided by the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas, Susan G. Komen North Texas, and Texas Health and Human Services Commission.
