Wylie, Texas -- The first delivery of beams needed for the new FM 897 bridge in Fannin County could lead to slight traffic delays on several roads in the county. Drivers could see slight delays on Highway 82 at CR 2915, FM 897 north of CR 2915, and CR 2945 north of Lannius to Bois d’Arc Creek.

The first beam of the new FM 897 bridge is put into place above the future Bois d’Arc Lake.

Tractor-trailers are expected to deliver approximately 45 beams in total on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday this week between midday and early evening each day.

Each beam is 115 feet long and weighs approximately 115,000 pounds. By the end of Friday, 45 beams are scheduled to be in place.

The 1.3-mile-long bridge is part of 6.2 miles of FM 897 that is being built to provide north to south access across the future Bois d’Arc Lake.

A little longer than a football field (345 feet), 15 beams mark the next step in the building of the new FM 897 bridge over the future Bois d’Arc Lake.
